DayStar CIGS Module

DayStar is developing a new photovoltaic module based on our proprietary one-step CIGS deposition process. The product will address a readily available market as it is designed to be compatible with solar system designs being installed today in the largest and most rapidly growing thin film markets.

The product specifications for DayStar's new CIGS modules on a glass substrate have been developed in close cooperation with our customer and development partners to be consistent with their application requirements. Our plan is to produce monolithically integrated CIGS modules on 1.2 m by 0.6 m glass laminate substrates. The modules are designed for high voltage grid-connected utility and commercial market applications meeting rigorous industry standards.

DayStar's product strategy and rapid growth is greatly aided by producing a module with specifications already familiar in the industry. Existing mounting systems, cabling, inverters, handling methods, and other infrastructure allow our customers to easily integrate our modules into their future solar projects. Due to DayStar's unique one-step deposition process and the higher efficiency potential of CIGS on glass over other thin film technologies, we can deliver modules at a lower cost and higher performance than today's alternatives. Higher performance at lower costs enable solar plants higher revenue with lower investment costs generating increased demand which enables further improvement in cost and efficiency that will come with increased scale and ultimately be cost effective compared to fossil fuel based electricity production.
