Equipment Maintenance Manager

Software Engineer

Job Description:
The Software Engineer will be part of a team that writes and tests the control system for process tools. This software development will expand on the already existing modules and design that is being developed for our proto-coater tool. Additionally, this software will need to be enhanced and expanded for our large first-run production system in our production facility.
This will involve various forms of programming/configuration including Allan-Bradley PLC systems (Control Logix) and Factory Talk SE (formerly known as RS-View). Documentation of the systems and code will also be required.
This role will also interface with internal Mechanical and Electrical teams for coordination of processes and control methods.
Debugging will be done via simulations as well as through actual testing on the large scale tools both on our prototype systems and our production systems. These systems are similar, in many ways, to the vacuum systems used in semiconductor manufacturing.
Qualifications:
- 2 years experience with programming control systems (PLC work a plus)

Factory Information Systems Manager
The Factory Information Systems Manger will deploy all of the information systems needed to support DayStar’s photovoltaic module factory. This Senior position leads, develops, and executes projects of substantial scope and complexity. The primary focus of the position is to architect, select, deploy and support factory information systems, and act as the primary interface with manufacturing, equipment, automation, and process engineers regarding their needs and use of the systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design overall factory information architecture utilizing proven concepts from other industries.
- Specify, select, deploy and support applications including:
- Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
- Recipe and Parameter (RaP) Mgmt
- Equipment Engineering Systems (EES)
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
- Equipment Performance Monitoring
- Product Performance Monitoring
- Data Warehouse
- Reporting and Business Intelligence
- Statistical Process Control
- Equipment communication to/from factory information systems
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Equipment, Process Engineering, Finance, IT, and Quality groups to support and improve the systems
- Establish change control, support and escalation processes
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline
- 10 years experience in Manufacturing Operations environment
- Previous factory information systems implementation experience
- Good change management and communication skills are essential
- Broad background in programming, networking, database administration, source control, communications and other disciplines

Director, Back End Equipment Engineering
Job Description:
The Director of Back End Equipment Engineering will be responsible for selection, installation and maintenance of all Back End production tooling in Daystar’s photovoltaic module factory. The candidate must have at least 10 years of hands-on experience in successful specification, installation, and optimization of assembly systems used by semiconductor, solar, hard disk or flat panel display industries. The candidate must have a proven track record and specific technical expertise over a wide range of engineering disciplines required by complex fabrication systems. The candidate must possess excellent engineering management skills, both in building and managing a highly effective engineering team.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Direct activities of the Back End Equipment Engineering team:
- Lead equipment specification, selection/design, procurement, start-up, and production ramp activities for new factory.
- Includes equipment for contacts, lay-up, lamination and test operations
- Maintenance responsibilities for production equipment in support of plant requirements for yield, uptime, and throughput.
- Work with technology development and manufacturing teams to provide inputs which will streamline the technology development and transfer to manufacturing so that product development efforts address the essential requirements to ensure timely transition to volume manufacturing.
- Recommend & implement appropriate changes in fabrication tools and processes to improve the overall product performance and manufacturing cost.
- Lead teams in productivity improvement projects.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- B.S. degree (M.S. degree preferred) in an appropriate engineering field.
- 10+ years of equipment engineering experience.
- 7+ years supervisory/management experience.
- Goal-driven & hands-on leader; must be detail-oriented, time- and cost-conscious, technical expert/manager.
- Must possess an exceptional level of team building and project management skills, and the competence to direct the varying elements of project and personnel demands that drive a successful technology company forward.
- A motivator & a day-to-day, 'nuts and bolts' engineer.
- Knowledge of systems and software necessary to perform specific job function such as MS Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project, Flowcharting, Solidworks, Autocad.
